What can I do if my child does not have a birth certificate?

If your child was born in Hungary, you can ask for a copy of the birth certificate anytime and also initiate the registration process yourself. If this is not the case, you have to go to the local municipality and give a declaration about your child under oath. They will prepare a document about it. This is considered an equivalent of a birth certificate.
