Typical Hungarian meals, often offered in school are mono-vegetable stews called ‘főzelék’. Some say that anything Hungarian will contain onions and paprika powder. Some people find sweet, cold fruit soups in the summer strange, but most people like them. A children’s favourite is ‘Túró Rudi’ a cottage cheese bar covered in dark chocolate, all kids seem to love it. Another children’s favourite is something like porridge, but it is made of either semolina (tejbegríz) or rice (tejberizs), with cocoa powder on top. Some people make special dishes of intestines, liver is very popular.
