If your child is entitled to benefits from the education and participation package (Bremen-Pass http://www.jobcenter-bremen.de/site/bildungteilhabe/), the costs for transport between the place of residence and the school will be refunded, if the way to school for pupils in grades 1 to 4 is more than 2 km, for pupils in grades 5 and 6 is more than 3 km, for pupils in grades 7 and 10 is more than 4 km and for pupils in grades 10 to 13 it is more than 7.5 km.
For pupils with special educational needs, who need transport, the necessary expenses for transportation to regular school are reimbursed under the conditions mentioned above and for transportation to special needs schools regardless of the distance. Transportation costs on the use of school buses is also considered to be a necessary actual expenditure on pupils with special educational needs, if the distance to school cannot be managed or is unacceptable because of its length and nature or the degree of disability of the pupils. This applies in particular to pupils with the special educational needs of hearing, vision, physical and motor development.
