Breakfast is typically a glass of juice, a bowl of cereal with milk e.g. porridge oats; for adults tea/coffee and toast. Also sometimes a cooked breakfast (more common at weekends) consisting of bacon, sausages, eggs is eaten.
Lunch is most often eaten in the middle of the day and usually takes the form of sandwiches with perhaps fruit. There are often healthy eating policies in schools, where the schools don’t allow sweet things, crisps or fizzy soda drinks.
Dinner is usually eaten in the evenings when families are together. Traditionally Irish dinners consisted of meat, potatoes and vegetables, but now many families eat pasta, rice and other more worldly dishes. Potatoes still play an important part in the Irish diet.
