Parents have the choice between a public school or a private school. For enrolment, the children must be registered at the primary school responsible in the school district where the child is resident (§ 119 Thüringer school regulations)
In principle, parents have the choice at which type of secondary school they want to register their child. They are advised by the teachers of the primary schools.
