Are their regular health checks that my child is entitled to or can avail of?

Do you have a child aged 0-3 or expecting a baby?

In Germany, there are regular health check-ups for children. The program grants every child from birth to school age a statutory right to ten free check-ups: the so-called U1 to U9 check-ups. These regular checks help to detect and treat developmental disorders and diseases of children at an early stage. Participation in the screening tests is voluntary but strongly recommended.

Vaccination is one of the most important and effective protective measures. In Germany, all vaccinations are voluntary. However, there are vaccinations that are recommended. The costs for this are taken over by the health insurance companies. Since infectious diseases are particularly dangerous for infants and children, you should have your child vaccinated for the first time at the age of six weeks. By the end of the second year of life at latest, your child should be completely vaccinated against the most important diseases.

In addition, regular checks of the teeth in the dental practice are recommended, so that early signs of dental disease such as incipient caries are detected and treated early - so even on the child's "milk dentition". Later permanent teeth can be endangered otherwise.
