Different foreign languages ​​are taught at the schools in Thüringen. English is compulsory from the third school year. At Gymnasium in Thüringen, the first foreign language (mostly English) is taught from grade 5, a second foreign language is added in grade 7, from grade 9, a third foreign language is offered as an optional subject at some schools. The chosen foreign languages ​​are taught up to grade 10.
