In principle, all pupils who attend a school in Rheinland-Pfalz have a right to school transport if the way to school is unreasonable without the use of a means of transport. This is the case when the way to school is particularly dangerous or the footpath between home and primary school is more than 2 kilometers, otherwise longer than 4 kilometers. In the case of pupils with special educational needs, the reasonableness of the school route and the type and degree of disability is authoritative (§ 69 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Education Act, https://bus.rlp.de/detail?pstId=8965567).
If your child is entitled to benefits from the education and participation package, the costs for student transport between the place of residence and the school will be covered (https://www.ms.Rheinland-Pfalz.de/themen/soziales/bildungspaket/das-bildungspaket-95966.html).
