Do I have to pay for the service, or is there a free option?

Do you have a child aged 0-3 or expecting a baby?

Parents have to pay contributions for child care. The contribution is depending on the institution (municipal, confessional or private institution, parents' associations, childminder / father of the day). There is a nationwide obligation to graduate parental contributions socially. The amount of the contributions depends on the income of the parents, the number of children in the family and the amount of care. If necessary - for example, if services are purchased under SGB II, SGB XII or AsylbLG - the costs can be covered by the youth welfare office in whole or in part, so that parents do not have to pay anything. Siblings of children often do not have to pay the full amount.

Please ask for information about the amount of the contributions at the local youth welfare office or the care facility on site.

Rheinland-Pfalz:

For the Crèche Offer parents basically have to pay contributions. The contributions are determined taking into account income and the number of children. For four or more children, no parental contribution is usually levied. With very low income of the parents a release is possible.
