Children can learn the German language in kindergarten, at school and in daily life or in intercultural meeting places.
Kindergartens in the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen have the task of supporting children in language development (https://www.kita.nrw.de/fachkraefte-fachberatung/sprachliche-bildung). An information flyer for parents in various languages can be found on the website: https://www.kita.nrw.de/fachkraefte-fachberatung/sprachliche-bildung#Informationsflyer-fuer-Eltern
The language level of the child is determined two years before school enrolment (in accordance with § 36 (2) Education Act Nordrhein-Westfalen). When a language support is required, the child receives a language support measure. An information flyer for parents in various languages can be found on the website https://www.schulministerium.nrw.de/docs/Schulsystem/Schulformen/Grundschule/Slangrachfestung/index.html on the right side in the blue field.
The language level of the child is also checked when registering in primary school in the year before school enrolment,
https://www.schulministerium.nrw.de/docs/Schulsystem/Schulformen/Grundschule/Sprachstandsfeststellung/index.html. All school-age children without sufficient German language skills receive language lessons in language training classes or small learning groups in the schools. These language learning courses are free. In regular school education, language education and language support are systematically continued as an integrated measure in all schools.
