Every child in Germany has the right to religious education. According to Article 7 (2) of the German Constitution, religious instruction in public schools, with the exception of the non-confessional schools, is a regular subject and is granted in accordance with the principles of the religious communities.
Religious teaching in schools does not replace the religious education of the parents or the religious communities but is added as a school education offer.
