In Germany there are typical regional foods or dishes:
Christstollen, a pastry at Christmas time or Sauerkraut, a vegetable made from planed white cabbage or Spätzle, cooked long or round pasta or Maultaschen, a pasta bag filled with minced meat or even spinach and cheese.
In the north of Germany there are some special kinds of food like Curly kale, “Labskaus”, “Bremer Knipp”. There are regional specialties such as Teltower turnip, "Knieperkohl" (cabbage), asparagus and Spreewald gherkins, as well as linseed oil with quark and jacket potatoes or egg cakes (Plinsen).
