Do you have a child aged 16-18 years?

The driving license for driving a car or motorbike get young people from 18 years. Young people can take the driving license under the special regulation "Accompanied driving from 17 years" (BF 17) even at the age of 17 years.

Adolescents and accompanying persons must adhere to a number of legal regulations when participating in accompanied driving from the age of 17:

• Driving school education and examinations with the BF17 are the same as with the

driving license acquisition from 18 years.

• After the driving test, 17-year-olds do not receive a (card) driver's license, but a test

   certificate containing the accompanying persons.

• Young people are only allowed to ride BF17 accompanied by their registered escorts.

• Accompanying persons can only be registered if they are over 30 years of age, have a

car driving license for at least 5 consecutive years and have at most one point in the

   driving license register in Flensburg.

• Accompanying persons are not to be under the influence of drugs while driving and

have a maximum of 0.5 per mill alcohol in their blood.

• The examination certificate must always be present with the identity card or passport

   when driving.

• The probationary period starts with the BF17 with the handover of the examination

certificate after the exam. It lasts two years, as it does for over 18-years-old.

• The absolute prohibition of alcohol when driving is valid until the 21st birthday.

• Many car insurance companies must be informed when using a car for the

   accompanied driving from 17.
