School:

Children with special educational needs have the right to attend a general school. In Hamburg there are integrative regular classes in elementary schools, in which children with special educational needs in learning, in language as well as in emotional and social development are taught together with children without disabilities. In the integration classes in grades one through ten, pupils with sensory impairment, physical disability, mental disability, or autism spectrum disorder are enrolled.

As an option, children and adolescents with special educational needs can continue to benefit from special education and language schools and special schools. In Hamburg there are the following special schools for children with special disabilities: Educational Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Educational Center for Hearing and Communication, Conveying Center for Physical and Motor Development and Conveying center for Mental Development (http://www.hamburg.de/sonderschulen/).
