For enrollment in secondary school, parents will receive a registration form from primary school in January. In the application, three schools can be specified (first, second, third choice). The completed registration form must be submitted at the primary school. If a child cannot be admitted to the school of first choice for reasons of space, he / she will take part in the admission procedure for the second or third choice school. Upon completion of the admission procedure, parents will receive a message from the school where their child has been admitted.
Pupils aged 12-16 who come to Germany from another country should seek advice on which type of school is suitable for them. The school supervision at the Senator for children and education in Bremen (https://www.bildung.bremen.de/sixcms/detail.php?gsid=bremen117.c.5309.de) or the school office in Bremerhaven (https://www.bremerhaven.de/de/verwaltung-politik/buergerservice/adressen-Offnungszeiten/schulamt.22497.html) help with the consultation.
When registering, the following information and documents should be available:
• identity papers
• last attended school
• certificates from the last two years of schooling
• where applicable, obtained school graduation
• information about foreign languages
• requirement for special support
• special skills, interests and inclinations
