Parents have various opportunities to actively participate in school. Parents evenings take place in the classes (at least 2 in the school year), during which all matters of the class are discussed with the parents. Twice a year there are parent talks with the child's teachers that parents should definitely attend. Parents can actively contribute for example, in homework help, reading support, in the accompaniment of excursions or at parties or projects in class or school.
Parents can also participate in the committees of the school. The possibilities of participation are defined in the school laws of the federal states. You can be elected as a parent speaker/ parent chairperson in your child's class. Then they are a member of the School's Parents’ council, where all the class parental speaker/ parenthood chairpersons of the school come together. Parents 'representatives are elected from the parents' council into the school conference, the highest co-determination organ of the school. Parental involvement in the Parents’ council of the city, the county and the federal state is also possible.
