Family Relief or Support Services (FeD / FuD) are childcare services for families in which a child with disabilities lives. Specialists come to the house and take care of the disabled child for a few hours or take over, for example, leisure activities or the accompaniment of doctor visits. The offer can be taken on a daily or hourly basis and usually takes place in the family home. The employees of the FUD are mostly students or apprentices in social professions. The services of self-help groups and social organizations such as Caritas are offered. There are various options for the reimbursement of costs, for example the integration assistance, preventive care or additional care services.
There are also facilities with health care facilities, where disabled children are well cared for even a few days or a few weeks.
People with disabilities have a right to assistance if they cannot participate in life in society, working life and family life without outside help. It may be that the presence of a physical, mental or psychological disability necessitates assistance in various areas of life.
An assistant for disabled infants can z. B for child care.
