There are different regulations in each state as to when compulsory school attendance ends or when a pupil can be released prematurely from compulsory education upon application by the school board.
In Brandenburg, full-time compulsory education lasts ten years. During this time, students must attend a full-time school. After completing full-time compulsory education, compulsory vocational training begins until the end of the vocational training relationship or for young people without vocational training until the end of the school year in which they reach the age of 18.
