People with disabilities have a legal entitlement to a so-called "personal budget", which is paid to them instead of service or in kind. This allows them to independently finance benefits that they need for daily help, and thus make their own lives. Parents of disabled children are also entitled to a personal budget. It can be used, for example, for individual help, social assistance from the youth welfare office or holiday care from the youth welfare office.

Families with a disabled child are entitled to integration assistance (https://mbjs.brandenburg.de/kinder-und-jugend/hilfen-zur-erziehung-eingliederungshilfen/eingliederungshilfen.html). The social and youth offices, health and care funds offer help.

The state of Brandenburg grants families with a low income and families, which are exposed to a special burden, e.g. as families with disabled children, a subsidy for family vacations (http://www.lasv.brandenburg.de/sixcms/detail.php/652499).
