Where can my child learn the majority language of the country?

Do you have a child aged 3-6?

Children can learn the German language in kindergarten, at school and in daily life or in intercultural meeting places.

Kindergartens in the state of Berlin have the mission to support children in language development. In the year before school enrollment, children who are not expected to have sufficient German language skills and who are unable to attend the initial classes will attend language support courses in kindergarten (https://www.berlin.de/familie/de/informationen/sprachbildung-und-sprachfoerderung-in-kindertagesstaetten-155).

All school-age children without German language skills are assigned to preliminary courses, where they receive language lessons. Refugee children and unaccompanied refugee minors receive initial language training in the registration center. These language learning courses are free. In regular school education, language education and language support are systematically continued as an integrated measure in primary and secondary schools.
