The Belgian way of life:

People usually eat lunch between 12 am and 2pm , in some workplace people bring their own lunch or go out to have lunch.

Supper is shared with your family between 6pm or 8pm.

Kids often have a snack called a “goûter” around 4pm.

Also, it is not a custom to share food with neighbours. Sharing food with other children on the playground is possible, but not necessary.

School custom:

There are few holidays that impact the school calendar.

Kids will have a week off school at the beginning of  November (Vacance de Toussaint), 2 weeks of school at the end of December and beginning of January (Vacance de Noël ou Vacance d’hiver), a week off school in February (Vacance de Carnaval), 2 weeks off school usually between mid March and mid April ( Vacance de Pâques) and finally schools are closed in July and August.

School start around 8-8:30 am and ends between 3 and 4 pm. There is no school on wednesdays afternoon and on saturdays, kids usually enjoy activities during this time.
