You are obliged to give “notification of birth” at the latest the day after your child is born. If you give birth in the hospital, this is done automatically, but if you give birth at home a doctor, midwife or other person present has this responsibility. To notify, a civil servant needs to be informed about the birth.
To register your child, you will need to go to the registration office at your commune within 15 days after the birth of your child. You will need to bring the identity cards of both parents, the medical proof of birth, and your marriage certificate (if applicable)
